Expanding Awareness and Action through Education and Partnerships - LERN engages the best of existing, locally-focused, environmental education resources in a systematic effort to fill gaps and better disseminate community understanding of environmental issues throughout the Lakeshore Basin.

Woodland Dunes

Agricultural Watershed Improvement Network (AWIN)

Improving ground and surface water quality through enhancing environmental, community, and economic aspects of agricultural operations - AWIN is a locally-led comprehensive effort to foster, demonstrate and operationally implement agricultural practices that contribute to improving the basin’s water quality.  AWIN has encouraged broadening farm management from a narrow operational mode to a resource-sustainable and protective perspective.  It has created a community model that brings together farmers and other affected interests in a cooperative and constructive environment.

We All Live On The WaterWe All Live on The Water

Aldo Leopold wrote: "A true Conservation ethic will evolve only when citizens, not just government alone, take responsibility for managing and protecting our land and waters."

The We All Live on the Water project began as a collaborative effort involving the four Lake Michigan basin-based organizations in Wisconsin.  The effort began with the production of signs that carried the same message. The campaign has evolved into a series of seminars, outreach activities, and actions designed to raise awareness and understanding of water resource issues.
