Project Advisory Teams
The Lakeshore Stewardship Program uses community-based Project Advisory Teams to consider projects that fall under the following categories:
- Water Resources Protection: Projects that monitor or improve streams, rivers, lakes or
wetlands.
- Environmental Education and Outreach: Projects that establish or improve
communication and education about water quality issues for the general public, youth and
stewardship programs.
- Land-Use Protection and Habitat Restoration: Projects that focus on improving land
development decisions to restore or protect water quality.
What is a Project Advisory Team (PAT)?
During each round of Lakeshore Stewardship Program projects, Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership, Inc. (LNRP) chooses to partner with a number of local stewardship organizations and provides $500 to $5,000 in support depending on available funds. The goal is to support creative and effective local stewardship efforts to maintain or improve the health of our natural resources in northeastern Wisconsin. The volunteer members of the Project Advisory Teams review applications, help select which projects receive funding, and monitor the outcome of the funded projects.
- Each of the four Advisory Teams focus on a specific Lakeshore Region issue.
- Each project is assigned to an appropriate Team, which then works with the partner organization to assure that quality outcomes are achieved.
How do the Project Advisory Teams select projects?
LNRP supports a variety of community-based projects based on the project application criteria. The application process is designed to be competitive so that the best projects likely to succeed are chosen, but it is also interactive and supportive to help fill gaps of information and project planning of potential partner projects. Chosen stewardship partners work with their assigned Project Advisory Team to refine the project to ensure a successful result. Projects are chosen once a year.
Inquiries and applications for Lakeshore Stewardship Program projects may be submitted year-round. Inquiry@LNRP.org
Who Volunteers for Project Advisory Teams?
LNRP welcomes volunteers with diverse backgrounds - professionals who work on land or water issues for a living, those who just enjoy doing things like canoeing, fishing, or bird watching in the basin, or anyone with personal or professional experience working with others to improve the natural resources in the Lakeshore Region.
