Algoma:

Algoma Resiliency Projects

Crescent Beach

LNRP has been working with the City of Algoma on Crescent Beach for years. Funding from the USFWS helped remove invasives and restore native bird habitat. Currently, funding has been provided by the Fund for Lake Michigan to address stormwater runoff concerns at the beach.

Petersen Park

Petersen Park has been a primary site for LNRP’s US Forest Service project to mitigate Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), an invasive species from Northeastern Asia that kills ash trees. The City of Algoma and LNRP are working with Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. to remove the dead ash trees in the park, and reforest it with new, more resilient tree species.

Olson Park

Working with Bay Lake Regional Planning Commission, the City of Algoma developed a Master Plan to improve Olson Park. LNRP secured funding from Wisconsin Coastal Management Program and the US Forest Service, and, in partnership with Stantec Consulting Services Inc., are currently implementing projects to both relocate city snow removal and increase green infrastructure.
