Jon Gumtow

Representing the Sheboygan River Basin Partnership

Jon Gumtow is a Senior Wetland Scientist with Merjent, an environmental consulting firm in Appleton, WI.  Jon was raised in Sheboygan County and graduated from UW-Sheboygan followed by a degree from UW-Stevens Point in soil science and natural resources management.  Jon is a State-licensed Soil Scientist and a certified Professional Wetland Scientist.  He was appointed to the State Examining Board of Professional Soil Scientist in 2002 and is involved with numerous volunteer initiatives.  For over 40 years, he has completed natural resource assessments, permitting, and habitat restoration on a variety of projects throughout the Midwest and has designed over 40 wetland and stream restoration projects in Wisconsin.   Jon has been active with the Sheboygan River Basin Partnership (SRBP), Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership (LNRP), Lake Michigan Stakeholders (LMS), and many Fox River restoration initiatives.  He and his family volunteer with annual river cleanups, eagle monitoring, invasive species removal, and water quality monitoring.
