WHO WE ARE

PEAT is a Plymouth community civic organization that formed in 2017 to address citizen concerns about conservation issues, climate change consequences, and environmental sustainability.

OUR MISSION

PEAT is a non-partisan organization that — through education, outreach, and civil dialogue — increases public awareness and understanding of climate change and other environmental challenges.

OUR GOALS

Our goals are to inspire appropriate actions by individuals and policymakers at all levels to address the causes and challenges of climate change, to help adapt to its impacts, and to implement actions that make for a more livable, healthy earth.

OUR WORK

We have been a civic group that forms committees (a.k.a. “Action Teams”), on a needs basis, to address various issues and concerns that a group of members want addressed. Past Action Teams have addressed issues and concerns such as:

  • Public & Residential Clover Lawns

  • Pesticide Reduction/Elimination

  • Stopping Coal Tar Sealants on Plymouth Roads & Residential Driveways

  • Backyard Composting of Food Waste

PEAT has also participated in events at other Sheboygan County Environmental Organizations & Plymouth events with a booth that promoted PEAT and their mission. PEAT has a Facebook page & members who receive a weekly email newsletter.
