Dr. Deidre Peroff is Wisconsin Sea Grant’s social scientist and runs a field office at UW-Milwaukee’s School of Freshwater Sciences. There, she uses social science methods and theory to improve access to water resources, to facilitate environmental and place-based education, and to support the well-being and resiliency of Great Lakes coastal communities. She received a Ph.D. in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management from NC State University, a M.S. in Geography from Western Washington University and a B.S. in Geography from UW-Madison. In addition to research, she has taught environmental and outdoor education for many years and enjoys going on outside adventures with her family and friends whenever possible.
