Project Update — LNRP and Stantec Work Together on Projects in the Lakeshore Basin

LNRP and Stantec Consulting Services have created project summaries showcasing collaborative initiatives in the Lakeshore Basin. The summaries cover projects funded by the US Forest Service and the Wildlife Conservation Society's Climate Adaptation Fund, a regional Collaborative Phragmites Control Program, and the Amsterdam Dunes Preservation Area Habitat Restoration project. These projects aim to enhance coastal ecosystems, control invasive species, and protect critical habitats for migratory birds in the Lakeshore Basin.

Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership (LNRP) partnered with collaborator Stantec Consulting Services to create project summaries. Each showcases a collaborative project in the Lakeshore Basin.

Coastal Reforestation & Climate Adaptability Projects

Here we showcase the range of projects that have been funded by the US Forest Service and the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Climate Adaptation Fund. The financial support has acted as seed money for complementary funding and more extensive restoration activities at many of the project sites.

Collaborative Phragmites Control Program

The regional collaboration continues to grow with significant investments throughout LNRP’s service area and beyond. Project collaborator, Glacierland RC&D recently secured grants from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Sustain Our Great Lakes program to continue work in Fond du Lac, Calumet, and Kewaunee Counties.

Amsterdam Dunes Preservation Area Habitat Restoration

Multiple partners, and multiple funding sources have provided the support for one of the larger restoration projects in the Lakeshore Basin. The property is becoming a critical part of the Lake Michigan flyway for migratory birds and home to a healthy assemblage of native plants, animals, and coastal habitats.
