Ozaukee County Resiliency Projects

Valley Creek Corridor

The City of Port Washington has been working with LNRP and Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. to reimagine the potential of the Valley Creek Corridor. Projects in this area are designed to increase stream bank stabilization and decrease erosion, making the area safer for and more accessible to community members. [PDF]

Birchwood Hills

With support from the Bruce Krier Charitable Foundation, the City of Port Washington and LNRP are working to replace invasive species and dying ash trees with native plants at Birchwood Hills, the headwaters of Valley Creek. This project is intended to revive the area’s native ecosystem and habitats. Additional public trail enhancements will make this space more accessible for birders and other recreation.

Upper Lake Park

With support from the Fund for Lake Michigan and in partnership with Miller Engineers and Scientists, the City of Port Washington and LNRP are working to address the root causes of the bluff collapse in Upper Lake Park. Currently in the design phase, this project will address erosion and make shoreline more resilient to fluctuating levels in Lake Michigan. [PDF]

Sucker Creek

With support from the Bruce Krier Charitable Foundation, and in partnership with GRAEF Engineering and Fish Creek Restoration, Ozaukee County and LNRP are working to ecologically restore Sucker Creek to improve streamflow and fish habitat. [PDF]
